Roy Cummings

Photographer and journalist, Roy Cummings, was born in London, England in 1929, and died May 23, 1976 in Cannes, France attending the Cannes Film Festival. Roy worked for Gong, a German Magazine based in Munich, and several publications distributed in the United Kingdom. He moved to Los Angeles in 1956 with his wife Jean Cummings and joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Roy was the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association from 1975 - 76 and Press Relations Director from 1973 - 1975. He was one of the members who instituted the press conferences for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. It was at a special concert in 1956 when Roy first met Elvis Presley beginning a long friendship and photographing the essence of Elvis.
